Postcard Fun......

I've just joined in with the
Hosted by
Shannon Ganshorn, (Musings on Realities) Blog
We had to make 10 mixed media
postcards and send them to 10 international addresses that Shannon sorted out for us.
Mine are all flying overseas to Canada, Australia and  USA.
This is what I created for the swap.......
They are made with a collaged napkin background..
and I've copied one of my own paintings onto canvas paper..
added a button and lace (my two fave things!)

I'm now looking forward to 10 international mixed media cards falling through my letter box :)
(will make a nice change from the usual bills and flyers!!)
Three lovelies have arrived already...
Will show and tell when they are all here safely!
Thanks for Peeking!

V for Vacation....

Over at the...
they have a fabulous new Alpha Challenge starting....
You just need alter a dictionary in some shape or form ....
(Luckily...I bought a couple of old dictionaries at a boot sale last summer for about 20p each...so I've dug those out!!)
It's entirely up to you what you do with the challenge.
If you don't want to alter a dictionary you can create other samples with the dictionary pages...journal pages, a series of ATC's, or TAGS with the whole alphabet throughout the year. (But it has to be consistent) - see The Craft Barn Blog for full deets.
The new alpha Challenges are posted every 2 weeks and the letters are not in order....also  a little "twist" may be added  to make sure you don't work ahead of time
I Ummed and Aaarred what to do with this challenge...
So when I came across this in my craft room...
Inspiration hit!....
I've had this little vintage printers tray for a while now....and was waiting for  the right challenge to pop up to inspire me to alter it.... Now it only has 24 sections...so I will have to share a compartment or 2...or just add the extra challenges to the outside...anyway I will deal with that when I get to it!...
WEEK 1 - V
V for Vacation
My first alpha section filled
So...Ive added my dictionary page/highlighted definition inside one of the compartments...then altered it
A Close up
I've used...
a distressed vintage pic of a little boy playing in the sand
distress inks, mist, beads, shell, lace, pens and  Tim Holtz Idea-ology fragments and alpha parts (V).
What a fun challenge....I'm looking forward to adding to this fortnightly

Thanks for peeking!

(by Morag Cutts)
So here is my take on this challenge sketch...
I scrapped a pic and special memories of all my boys on our hols last year..(Hubby & 3 sons)
Sadly...It will most probably be the last holiday we all go away has a family for a while, now that my boys are in their twenties and late teens now!!! :( and are off doing their own thing!)
I've used these fab papers from 'My minds eye'
and added my buttons, lace, embellies, string and a little stitching on the circles.
Here is my full LO...

Flying the Flag.....

Wow...two posts in one day!!

I'm still having fun playing with the fabric...and sorting out my photos...I realised I had some more prayer flag swaps that I just had to share....
After the wonderful Prayer flag swap I took part in at Lenna's Creative Swaps Blog....I was looking to swap some more prayer flags to add to my collection....and I got some lovely offers to trade....
Leslie (One Womans Hands) was one who took me up on my offer.
and this is the shabby beauty that she sent to me....

Full of layers of Gorgeous vintage Lace, buttons and just look at that Heart I LOVE it!!
...and the sentiment is just what I need, I'm not an highly confident person...So It will remind me to leap into new situations with much more confidence!
and this is what I made for Leslie for our swap....
created by Jan (me)
You can never have enough LOVE!
Lots of lovely lace, ribbon, buttons and a shabby ribbon flower.
Funny, how we both used hearts on our flags!!
THANK YOU again Leslie for an awesome trade.
...and my lovely swapping friend Tina in Texas (No Blog) and I decided to do a little Prayer flag trading also.
I love swapping with Tina...Her swaps never dissapoint!!
This is what I sent to her...
Created by Jan (me)
We, decided to both use the sentiment 'Believe'
...again lots of lovely lace, fabric birds image, buttons, ribbons , pin and a ribbon rose.
And this is the stunner that Tina sent to me....
Created by Tina
made with a beautiful printed fabric, and embellished with birds and flowers (another coincidence that our flags both contained these two things!!) I just adore the teal colouring and netted trim.
THANK YOU AGAIN Tina for a Fabulous swap!!

...and last but not least
I can show this now that I Know that Joanna (Fiddlesnips) has received it, Jo and I were hoping to meet up for a crafty chat and coffee before Christmas, but before we knew it, Sadly,  December had flown by!!

Created by Jan (me)

This is what I sent to Jo...
I will share Jo's wonderful flag with you when it arrives...Cant wait!!!
I've got a fantastic collection of fabric arty flags from my blog friends from all over the world now...will take a pic of all of them hanging together to show you another day...
