Tattered Florals....

I've been going through a bit of a creative funk just lately...
so to snap me out of it...I thought a little challenge was in order!
..and over on
Tim has challenged us
to create something
using the
Tattered Floral Die
now...this has to be one of my favourite dies...
and I just love to tatter my florals...dont you?!.....
so how could I resist this challenge...
...this die makes some fabulous shabby blooms!
I love making my tattered florals with different papers, materials and fabric...such a versatile die..
But for this challenge I decided to make a batch of fabric flowers...and see where the inspiration took me.....
So I went rooting through my fabric scraps bag...
and made loads, with different materials!!....
Just add a button, bead, gem or brad to the centres of each flower.... distress if needed...and hey presto...the perfect tattered floral!
I picked out a few of the natural coloured ones that I made...and this is what I created for the challenge...
I altered a gorgeous little vintage baby dress with my tattered florals, this beautiful teeny antique dress was gifted to me to alter the lovely Margaret from Alice and Camilla ( who sadly is having a indefinate bloggy break at the mo...come back soon M...we miss you!) lace, vintage buttons, doilies, baby image from a photo printed onto fabric, beads, vintage doll, wing charm, rusty butterfly, paint, inks, Tim Holtz Idea-ology Philosophy tags and trinket pins.
My tattered florals

I decided to frame my altered dress, to hang in my craft room
So I bought a cheap box frame from ikea...added a vintage style sheet of Tim Holtz (paper stack) paper for the background...

...a vintage style hanger
and some old baby shoes (shabbied up)
Mmmmmm.....I got a little carried away
and made some more flowers!....
(These were all made with the Tattered Floral die)
...some made for some Spring/Easter crafts
...and some shabby vintage ones too
the little red flowers were made from a ribbon fabric....and were singed at the edges with a heat tool, to make them shrivel a little.
Thanks for peeking!

Broken doll.....

Over at
for Challenge #43
We want you to be inspired by this fabulous shabby picture...
My inspiration came from the beautiful shabby dress and the feathered headwear.
I decided to alter a cigar box for my DT piece..
which was just begging for a shabby makeover...
So I got some supplies together.....
...vintage music papers, ribbon, buttons, lace, paint, fabric, old odd earrings, feather, and a sweet vintage image from an old book.
and this is the result...
I crackle painted the cigar box...
then added all my shabby ingredients...
I made the dress (skirt) and bunting from some vintage ric rac and fabrics.
which just left me to fill it with some shabby treasures :)
Now hop over to
..for the full deets
and we have also got three new DT members...
so come and say Hi....
and see what other fabulous inspiration the talented shabby girls have created for this challenge...
There is also a great shabby prize up for offer for the winner.
Thanks for Peeking!

What a Hoot....

Letter H this weeks Dictionary Alpha Challenge
over at
the dictionary word that I chose for this challenge is....
I decided to alter one of the smaller cubbies of my printers tray
at only  2 . 5 cm by 4 . 5 cm was no easy feat!

I started of as usual with my inked dictionary paper
..and added a teeny tiny Home (nest) with a egg (old earring) and a teeny weeny red Heart bead.
A 'H' type-letter, flowers, cheesecloth
and a little brass owl charm.
A few lovely peeps have asked to show a pic of the whole printer tray so that they can see how its looking....
...but to tell you the truth, with only four cubbies looks a little I thought I would be a tease and have a mini reveal half way through the challenge when the compartments are overflowing with a few more goodies! ;)
It's fun seeing what 'H' words everyone else chooses and the fab dictionary pages created.....
....and as always a Huge thank you for leaving a comment too
 they do make me
Thanks for peeking!

Another wonderful prayer flag swap...

After the wonderful Prayer flag swap I took part in at Lenna's Creative Swaps Blog last year....
I got slightly addicted to creating them...
....and was looking to swap some more prayer flags to add to my collection.
I got some lovely offers to trade....
 Jo from fiddlesnips
was one who took me up on my offer.
....and this is the fabulous package that arrived for me in the mail last week. I soon as I saw the decorated envie...I just knew that I was in for a treat... I kinda guessed this was from Jo, before I opened all that know of her...will know she loves to a bit of gorgeous mail art!
...and what can I say
....isn't the flag she made for me brilliant!
Jo had done a little recycling and
cut up an old denim skirt
So Clever!
....and added fabby stitchery doodles all over
...and my fave things...Buttons
...and a lovely sentiment 'Relax'
LOVE... LOVE... LOVE... it all !
Thanks again Jo for a wonderful trade :)
If  you missed the Prayer flag I created for's in this post here
I've accumulated a fantastic collection of fabric arty flags from my bloggy friends from all over the world now...
I'm in the middle of having a big sort out of my crafty space at the mo, but will take a pic of them all hanging together to show you another day...:)
Thanks for Peeking!

Lovely Les.....

I write this post with a heavy heart....
A few days ago our Lovely Les
passed away
Such sad sad devastating news.
....we met online around 5 years ago when I joined the ATC group that Les and Jen ran together.
Lesley was such a talented artist, caring and sharing soul,
she made everyone feel so welcome in the groups, giving us all nicknames.... mine was Smifferoo.
It was only a small group but what lovely bunch of ladies from all over the world and we quickly went on to form many long lasting long distance friendships.
We swapped and gifted lots of art over the last 5 years, from atc's, inchies, altered matchboxes
and more recently Les gifted me this beautiful little canvas
of one of her whimsy gals.
I will treasure all the beautiful artwork she has given to me over the years...
Lovely Les will be greatly missed by so many.
which has already been proved by the wonderful and beautiful tributes flowing out on FB.
My deepest sympathies go out to her husband John, friends and family and I hope that they will find some comfort in how much she was loved by people from all over the world.
Rest in peace

Letter E this weeks Dictionary Alpha Challenge
over at
I so look forward to this challenge every fortnight
because I'm having fun altering my vintage printers tray
and the word that I chose for this challenge is....
..I added my inked dictionary paper with the definition highlighted.
... altered a little old spoon with lace, button, crochet, bandage, flower, bird and egg embellies,
....which reminded me of spring/Easter
so..I added another snippet of  a french dictionary paper
with  Easter onto the spoon handle
anyway here is my take on it....
Eating Easter Eggs!!
