Shabby Tea Party.....

Over at
Let's get Shabby
for Challenge #47

You have to Choose a piece of shabby chic china/porcelain dinnerware etc...  for example : a teacup, dinner plate, teapot.
It could be your own, or a photo off the internet.
Then be inspired to recreate the pattern/image of that piece into your own artwork with a LO, card etc...

I chose this shabby tea set for inspiration.

So for my DT piece this month...
this is what it inspired me to create...

I was inspired by the colours and the floral pattern of the pink roses.
The pics are of two of my boys and my two nieces taken when they were little'uns
(they are all in their twenties now!!)
getting ready for a little tea party in nan's garden.
 -oOo-

Now hop over to
..for the full deets
There is a fabby shabby prize up for grabs this month

Purple and Lime Green

...using the 'Little Stitches ' book by Aneela Hoey

This is my contribution for
Purple and Lime Green

I've embroidered Ollie the Owl
onto a vintage linen coaster
using lime and purple cottons.....
(couching and back stitches and French knots)
I needed to practice my French knots..so his little wings are full of them!
...then I added an assortment of  lime and  purple buttons.
Looking forward to seeing what everyone else has done with these lovely colours and next weeks Colour prompt..

I chose the word
Umbrella
(not very Unique I know!)...
from  my old dictionary
Just like last week...where my Printers Tray only has 24 compartments....I also added this weeks challenge outside of the cubbies....

I've altered  another microscope slide with a vintage image and my dictionary word and definition in the background. I've created a little umbrella from velvet, lace, wire and ribbon and added a little lacy butterfly.

Summer of Colour 3 -Week 1 - Giddy up

Summer of Colour 3- Week 1
Citron Green & Turquoise

YAY!!....
The Summer of  Colour
started this week
hosted by the lovely and talented Kristin
-oOo-
This is my third year of taking part in SOC, each time I've managed to shake it up and do something a little different.
So this year I thought I would teach myself to embroider!
I got this fab book last year

and have been meaning to stitch a little something....
So this challenge has pushed me into hunting out my old cross stitch stash that was hidden deep in the loft cupboard.
So with hoops and cottons sorted.....
This is my contribution for
 Citron Green and Turquoise.

Embroidered onto a vintage doily , using back stitch, scatter stitch and straight stitch....then added some buttons, lacy wings, crochet flower and lace.
Mmmmmm....I may just use all my embroidered pieces and make a Summer of Colour Sampler when the challenge is complete
Looking forward to seeing what everyone else has done with these colours and next weeks Colour prompt..

We are family....

Another family challenge....
I got some lovely new Scrapbook papers last Christmas..
and they are a lot brighter than I usually play with!!
I've been a little scared to attempt to scrap with them!!
-oOo-
So I decided to share some papers with my cousin Kerry and her mum (my Auntie Joan) and hopefully inspire me to get out of my colour comfort zones!!
...We decided to do another scrappy challenge .
Using a similar photo of the 4 McCarthy Sisters (Kerry's mum, my mum and my 2 other Aunties)
Using these 3 double sided bright and breezy papers...

and my challenge was to add at least one button and some stitching....
Now I couldn't just add 1 button could I...so there is 4 on my page!!
-oOo-
 here is my Layout....

Now it's a little too busy for my liking...but they may be due to my phobia of vibrant colour!!...I've added red lace, some bunting, buttons, stitching, bull-dog clip, Prima flowers,TH metal saying, wooden heart charm, washi tape, bakers twine and paper clip.

..and here is my Auntie Joan's lovely version....
Love the Title,
flower cluster (with buttons), stitching and bunting...
You did a fabby job Auntie Joan :)
-oOo-
... and this is Cousin Kerry's take on our little family challenge.

Another amazing page.
Love how Kerry has stitched the title, layered the papers and embellies...
and the little tag made out of the scrapbook paper is inspired.
-oOo-
I LOVE seeing what we all did with the same papers...
Thanks for another great challenge!
Mmmmm...ready for another one Ladies!....

Thanks for Peeking!

F is for Female....

Letter F...
....is this weeks Alpha challenge
over at
The Craft Barn
...and there is a little twist this week...
you have to choose a word between FE and FR

I chose the word
Female
from two of my old dictionaries

Now...my Printers Tray only has 24 compartments....so at some point I knew I would have to add a couple of extra challenges outside of the cubbies....so I've decided to do that this week with my letter 'F'
-oOo-

I've altered  a microscope slide with a vintage image of my little female (photo transfer method using modge podge) and my dictionary word and definition in the background. I've given her some legs, wing, lacy skirt, 'f' alpha part and a little flower for her hair.....because my dictionary page was behind everything in my challenge.... I decided to add another dictionary snippet to the exterior (on the lace) from my French dictionary.

Off to take a peek now to see what everyone else is doing with the  letter 'F'.

Thanks for peeking!

Chippy Crochet Creations....

Yayyy..I had my first attempt at Crochet!
Fiddly at first...but got there in the end...

I discovered how to make these little lovelies at a recent class held at my local craft shop
 Craft Candy
....which was taught by Susan Burns.
These are made from crocheting Ivory coloured wire and adding some Mother of Pearl bead chips.
Photo taken by Susan
Whoooo..Look at the concentration on my face LOL!
I really enjoyed the class...and everyone made something different... as we all used different coloured wired... beads... ribbon....  etc...so it was interesting to see all the varied end results.
-oOo-
...and when I got home.. just had to make a set from my favourite
stone.... some Rose Quartz chips.

.... they look a little pinker than this in real life!
Oh and a little faux pearl number too!...

Thanks for Peeking!
