Compendium of Curiosities 3 - Challenge 9...Stamps & Framelits

Over at
For
Challenge # 9
Linda and her fabulous Curiosity crew
have been playing with
 Stamps & framelits
(Using page 63 of Tim's book).
-oOo-
Now...I've played along with all the challenges so far...but thought I will sadly have to miss a couple at some point with  my impending hospital stay tommorrow....
But when I saw the new challenge...I just had to fit some crafty time in!!!
Why?
Because I bought the
French Flight
Stamps & framelits set with some Birthday money just last week!! :)
So this challenge...gave me a good excuse to try it out!!
(and it also helped take my mind of my upcoming surgery!!)
I thought I would try something a little different...
First of all, I checked that the framelits cut through Linen...
and they did!! :)
So I reached for these...
and this is what I made using my new Tim Goodies...

A fabric hanging...made with all my favourites...vintage linens, doilies, lace, buttons, ribbons and the
French Flight
Stamps & framelits set

I've stamped my French Flight stamps on to linen and cut them with the framelits, then stitched them onto my fabric hanging...
....added a couple of pins, French laundry hanger...
a lot of stitching and printed a Paperwhimsey image  onto some fabric.
I've stitched down the middle of my butterflies...so that their wings are left to flutter...

Shabby is my Happy Place......

I’m playing along again this month with
 -oOo-
Tim's Arty August inspiration

Tim has challenged us to follow our creative muse…inspired by this month's "12 tags of 2014"
muse /myo͞oz/: to become absorbed in thought or dreamy abstraction
-oOo-
Tim posted about following his creative muse..... and how he chose a variety of different items to fuel his project. So I rummaged around my craft room...and grabbed some of my favourites (had to have some vintage buttons & lace in the mix ;) !)  a variety of stamps, inks, stencils and embellies!
Then inspired by Tims creative tag... I've followed most of the background technique... getting inky... and texture with the stencils...experimenting with techniques....I got so caught up in dreamy thought...what stamp should I use...colours of ink...I followed my muse...which I find this the most rewarding part of creating ...getting totally lost...deep in arty thoughts...in a dreamy zone...(It helps to have no distractions)...
and this is the result...
The little birdie (one of Tim's stamps) reminded me of a little magpie that often visits my garden...I'm sure he has his beady lil eye on the treasures in my craft-room LOL!!..anyway...this is what inspired the shabby lacy nest full of goodies... eggs, bottle, watch, flowers and jewels etc...

As Tim says in his post 'our style is as unique as our individual personality' ...So I've come to the conclusion ... 'Shabby' is definitely my 'Happy Place'!
-oOo-
Sadly...I won't be in my Happy Place next week...I'm off too hospital for Surgery...I won't be around to comment on your lovely blogs for a little while...So I will apologise in advance....but as soon as I'm back on my feet again...I'll come and visit you all :)

Compendium of Curiosities 3 - Challenge 8...Faded Layers

Over at
 is the
 Faded Layers technique
as shown on page 58 of Tim's book).
-oOo-
I love the look of this technique...so couldn't wait to get inky!
I had lots of fun with this, and made lots of inky backgrounds...
This was one of my faves
(using the faded layers technique)
and this is what I did with it...

I made a special card for a very special person.....a wedding Anniversary card for Hubby...We will be celebrating our 25th year of marriage next week.

Love how the splash of inky colours really popped on the neutral decorated card.
...and a  little silver (idea-ology) heart ....the perfect token for our Silver Anniversary! Ahh!!! :)

Ingredients
Tim Holtz...assorted Inks, stencils (Hearts, numbered and splatters), Alpha parts(framed),Typewriter die, charms, chit-chat stickers & Crate paper

..In hindsight I should have created him a medal for putting up with me for the last 25 years LOL!!

decorated with (altered) alpha parts, type and heart charms, chit-chat stickers,)
