Have a SWEET Birthday!....

Phew...with one day to go of the challenge...I’ve had fun playing along again this month
inspired by...
Here's Tim's Creative June inspiration
I did try to maintain the feel of Tim's tag, by using the same/similar techniques, textures and embellies.
Sadly, I don't own Tim's 'Fresh Brewed' die, so I substituted it with the Sizzix 'Gumball Machine' die.
...using assorted surfaces, corrugated card, plastic, metal tape, Ribbon & card.
..Ok, I admit, I don't quite have the plaid background looking like Tim's fabulous one..I didn't have the 'stripes' stencil , So used a thicker lined stencil from my crafty stash for my inky attempt!
 So...this is my Entry for
Tim Holtz
 June-12 Tags of 2015....
I also tinted my mirror star with 'pool' alcohol ink.
Thanks again to Tim for some amazing  inspiration and Looking forward to seeing what Mr Holtz inspires us
with his July tag  now...
...Not long to wait!
So until next time.....
Thanks for Peeking!

The Summer of Color 5: Week Three

Once again... I'm joining our talented hostess Kristin at Twinkle, Twinkle
for the
Summer of Color
 This week's colours are
purple + purple + yellow.
I had lots of trouble with this combination,
tricky colours for me...
.... not my favourite colour combo.
So, it made it more of a challenge for me!
I'm trying to do something different each week,
Week 1 I did some knitting,
Week 2 Photography
So for Week 3, I decided to hit my vintage fabric, doilies, buttons and lace stash..
...and managed to find some Purple, Purple and yellow, to create this fabric book cover...
All hand-stitched.. The pretty image is a silk collector card, crochet flowers, doilies, lace, fabric and lots of lovely buttons!
Looking forward to seeing what everyone else has done with these colours and next weeks Colour prompt..

The Summer of Color 5: Week One. . .

The Summer of Colour 5
started this week
hosted by the lovely and talented Kristin
This is my fifth year of taking part in SOC, each time I've managed to shake it up and do something a little different each year.
I’m obsessed with all things arty and creative. I like to experiment and dabble in lots of different arts and crafts
...So, I'm hoping to do a little something different for each week of this challenge this time.
Now... I couldn't decide whether to knit or bead for Week One...
So I matched up some yarn and beads in the same colours and combined them both in my first project :)
Blue, Blue + Green
So... here is my Blue, Blue + Green offering....
Looking forward to seeing what everyone else has done with these colours and next weeks Colour prompt..

A Summer of Colour and a Photograph Scavenger Hunt.........

It's that time of year when artists all over blogland  are challenged to get all arty and creative in any medium of their choosing
...with interesting weekly colour prompts
....given to us by the lovely

I have so much fun with this challenge each year (this will be my 5th year taking part)
It's definitely one of my favourite challenges.
This challenge always pushes me out of my colour comfort zones..every year!
Summer of Colour 1 & 2
I created a mixture of journal painting, cards and fabric art from the awesome colour prompts.
Summer of Colour 3
I used the colour prompts to create individual embroidered pieces stitched onto vintage linen, then at the end of the challenge added them to a vintage baby dress
Summer of Colour 4
....and last years challenge ...I went with a knitted theme...creating some bright and colourful yarn birdies!
I'm not quite sure what medium to use for year 5 of this fabulous challenge....will wait excitedly until next week to decide where Kristin's colour inspiration takes me....
....Can't wait!!!!
If you've never played along before with
 The Summer of Color
 you should definitely consider it.
Details can be found at Here
...and now for another fab challenge..
I was planning on taking part in this interesting challenge last year, but due to my operation and recovery period, didn't get round to completing it !
So this year, I'm looking forward to jumping in again!!
I'm a keen photographer (but no expert lol)

So this looks like a lot of fun to get some practice snapping throughout the summer months.

There's a challenge list of 21 photographs to take...
The list is intended to be challenging, but not impossible. and will encourage me to go on a few outings in search of a piccy or two! ;)
And there's all summer to get it completed!
Well I'm going to cross my first one of the list.
1. A bouquet of flowers
Now, that was the easy thinks the rest are going to a bit more challenging!!! ....but Fun!

Hop over to Rinda's blog to see the full challenge list....
Hope you can join in the fun too?...
Thanks for Peeking!

Coffee Stains.......

Over at
Challenge # 64
It's all about ....

‘Discolouration’  (UK / Australian spelling)
‘Discoloration’  (American spelling)
 here is a definition:
Dictionary:   discoloured/discolored ....marking or area with a stain.
This could be with spilled ink or spray or coffee/tea stain … or perhaps a discoloured photo – or you may want to use the word in a title or in a quote?

So...this is what I did for my DT piece...
I grabbed my arty journal....
..and decided to make a discoloured background from coffee granules!
1. wet journal pages with water.. either spray it on, or paint liberally with a paintbrush.
2.Sprinkle some coffee granules randomly over your pages.
3.let the coffee granules do their stuff!...spray more water if you desire.
4.Dont be afraid to use your paintbrush to swoosh the coffee around a little.
5. Use your heat gun to make the coffee drip and dry your pages.
6. Add some coffee to water and make circle (ring) stains, by printing the rim of a cup  and add some more splats of your coffee/water. Then dry with heat gun again.
7. At this point you could also discolour some scraps of paper to add to your journal page.

and you should get a background similar to this...
My journal background all discoloured with coffee stains.
But...I couldn't just leave it like this... I added some stamping, paper scraps, old postage stamps, distress inks and paints...
and this is the end result...

Now Hop over to.

..for the full deets on this challenge...and see what other wonderful inspiration my arty team mates have created for this
 Discolouration challenge
....and there's a Super prize up for grabs  for the challenge winner...

Thanks for Peeking!
